Curious George: Lets Get Curious! Is a Big Hit

Boston (Vocus) April 9, 2010

Boston Childrens Museum has welcomed over 119,000 visitors since opening the exhibit Curious George: Lets Get Curious! on February 7. Fans of all ages have visited the exhibit where they can explore the world of Curious George while also learning about science, math, and engineering. The exhibit will be at the Museum through June 6, 2010.

Based on the classic stories by H.A. and Margret Rey, the Curious George: Lets Get Curious! exhibit inspires young childrens natural curiosity as they explore early science, math, and engineering through hands-on interactive play. The exhibit takes place in the neighborhood where Curious George lives with his friend, The Man with the Yellow Hat. Visitors will recognize familiar characters and places featured in the classic stories and the television series produced by Imagine Entertainment, WGBH Boston and Universal Studios Family Productions on PBS KIDS.

Its been exciting to see all the visitors coming to the Museum for the exhibit Curious George: Lets Get Curious!, said Gail Ringel, Museum vice president of exhibits and production. Everyone -- from the youngest child to his or her grandparents -- seems to connect with the Curious George character and remember reading the books when they were younger. The exhibit brings his world to life, while also building science and engineering skills.

Along with the exhibit, Boston Childrens Museum is offering a variety of Curious George programming. On Saturday, April 10, visitors can count to 100 with Curious George as the Museum celebrates the 100th day of the year. Between April 22 and June 20, 2010, The Yellow Show will feature yellow artwork from 16 local artists in The Gallery. Regular science programs, including Kitchen Science and Critter Day, also have a Curious George theme during the run of the exhibit.

Designed, developed and built by Minnesota Childrens Museum in partnership with Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, the Curious George: Lets Get Curious! exhibit began a five-year, 20-city tour of childrens museums across the country in September 2007. The exhibit is sponsored by 3M. It is co-presented by the Curious George Fund of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston and sponsored in part by Citizens Bank and WGBH.
