Randy Foye Foundation Announces $10,000 Grant and Upcoming Events

Newark, NJ (PRWEB) April 24, 2009

The Randy Foye Foundation proudly announces a $ 10,000 commitment to Dr. E. Alma Flagg School (which is the elementary school that Foye attended) for the remainder of the academic year. As part of this grant, the RFF will: purchase a school uniform shirt for every student at Flagg for the 2009-2010 school year; publish the 8th grade yearbook; partner with the school to host a carnival for students in June; fund transportation for end-of-year trips; and continue the success of the Assist 4 Life program.

"I am happy that we are able to provide these opportunities for the kids at Flagg," Foye said. "The city of Newark has a school uniform policy in place, and we are helping students to comply by making sure that everyone has at least one shirt to wear to school. Providing funding for their school trips and events is important because it will create lasting memories for them. In addition to the educational and mentoring support we provide, we want the students to experience fun things that will aid their social growth as well. At the end of the day, it's all about making a child smile and giving them hope."

The RFF is hosting a series of summer fundraising events with an eye on two key projects: renovating the gymnasium at Dr. E. Alma Flagg School, and refurbishing the outdoor playground area. Both areas are in need of repairs as well as upgrades. These environments provide a safe place for student learners to demonstrate physical fitness, social interaction, hard work and a positive attitude. We hope you will support us by attending one or more of our events, and are pleased to offer online registration through our website for each event.

Friday, May 15 - Happy Hour at Rod's Tavern in Spring Lake, NJ to recognize Amanda Melillo for her fundraising efforts and wish her luck as she runs in the Vermont City Marathon on May 24!

Thursday, May 21 - After Work Party at Onieal's in NYC hosted by the Randy Foye Foundation and Villanova's Manhattan Alumni Chapter. Join Randy and special guest Jay Wright for a night with Villanova legends in support of the RFF. Event is from 6-9pm and features a 3 hour open bar and heavy hors d'oeuvres.

Saturday, June 20 - "Day at the Races" at Monmouth Park Racetrack, a joint effort of the RFF and the Villanova Alumni Association's Monmouth-Ocean Counties Chapter.

Saturday, July 18 - Second Annual "Night for Newark," hosted by RFF board members Jack and Iwona Howley at their beautiful Rumson estate.

Visit the Events page of our website at http://www.therandyfoyefoundation.org for more information.

Special thanks to VUHoops.com for their March blogathon fundraiser. The Villanova alumni who run the site reached out to members of their online community and raised $ 745 for the RFF.

In honor of the Villanova Wildcats reaching the Final Four, we are running a $ 4 fundraising drive. Our goal is to raise $ 5,000. Supporters are encouraged to donate using Facebook by searching for Randy Foye Foundation in the Causes application, but can also send a check.

Mind Commerce Announces Availability of Stimulus Grant Support Package

Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 11, 2009

Mind Commerce LLC and WMX Systems announced today the release of the first in a series of Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) Grant Application Support Packages. The BTOP was created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment (Stimulus) Act of 2009 (ARRA 2009) to expand broadband internet access in unserved, underserved or rural markets of the US supporting education, healthcare, public safety and job creation. The program provides almost $ 4 billion for service providers, state and municipal governments and non-profits to build broadband networks. This is arguably the largest infusion of funding, public or private, for telecommunications in the US since the telecom boom of the late 1990's.

The 380-page package offers exceptional value to anyone seeking to write a BTOP grant application. The BTOP grant application, per the ARRA 2009, shall consist of a) a business plan b) an engineering plan and c) a cost estimate. Washington insiders point to a need for grant applicants to provide specific details as to what broadband technology will be deployed, how it will serve the unserved or underserved community, and what measurable outcomes will be produced with the grant funding. Grant applicants can expect a good deal of scrutiny before and after the any grant and should be adequately prepared.

The Mind Commerce BTOP Grant Application Support Package is not a specific engineering plan or cost estimate. Instead, it provides the following highly valuable documents and representative WiMAX application scenarios:

About the Book (Excerpts & Info)

"What Is the Church?" This question guides the Christian in understanding the proper relation that should exist between the individual believer and the institution. The Church is never personal property or a Private Club. The Church is always the association of those who have experienced a personal relationship to Jesus Christ, and are committed to living a life faith despite contrary circumstances.

"Are You Expecting?" is the question that challenges the Christian believer to live a life of constant awareness of what God is doing in the world, and to remain ready to respond when called to unique and special service.

"Finally, Farewell" is the word releasing the baton of service to the trusted hands of others, after a well run leg of the relay race of ministry. These and other sermons challenge both clergy and laity to remain alert to recognize and respond to the many seasons and celebrations of ministry.

Deftly constructed at 196 pages, What is the Church?: Occasional and Seasonal Sermons for the Busy Pastor is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the American - African American category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, What is the Church? meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $ 15.95.

About the author:

Hector J. Grant, Sr. is a retired Administrator, Pastor, Preacher and Teacher. He served twenty years as a College Administrator, Minister, Lecturer; and twenty-nine years as pastor of several metropolitan congregations. He is a life long student of the human condition, wielding the writing craft to enrapture the mind much like an artist wields a brush. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. What Is The Church? is the third in a series of recent literary pursuits, with work progressing quickly on three further works of similar genre that will quickly follow.

Mr. Grant is a native of Jamaica where he grew up. He migrated to the United States to attend college and remained to earn academic degrees in Sociology, History and Divinity, and to practice his profession as academic administrator, College Minister, Director of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church, and pastor of Methodist congregations in Mississippi, Texas and Missouri. His hobbies include organic gardening, fishing, and writing.
